The new logo for the 2012 Olympics in London has been withdrawn due to concerns of its potential effects on people with epilepsy. The logo, said to be chosen to build interest with the 'internet generation', cost $800,000. Hopefully that wasn't with taxpayers' money..
The BBC had a showing of alternative logos sent in by viewers. This lovely, and sadly more aesthetically pleasing, logo based on goatse slipped through:
